These Are the Droids You're Looking For: AI Tools to Transform Teaching
Friday March 28, 2025 3:00pm - 3:30pm PDT
As an experienced English teacher, I've felt the weight of the modern teaching landscape – the constant pressure, the ever-growing to-do list, the feeling of pushing a boulder uphill, only to have it roll back down. Education needs to be a sustainable profession, even as we’re asking to adapt to a world that’s changing yet again.

In this session, I’ll share a few of my favorite AI tools – not as replacements for good teaching, but as powerful "droids" to make the essential work of education more sustainable. These are practical applications I’ve used with students to streamline feedback, personalize learning, and help my classes find solace and relevance in a fragmented world. Each tool, in its own way, helps lighten the load, while keeping humans at the center, making teaching a little less Sisyphean. We’ve got a steep climb, but if we work together, hand and algorithm, we can make teaching a sustainable profession again.
